08Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is Taco Pay?

Taco Pay is a digital platform for creating and managing prepaid virtual cards in US dollars for online payments. You fund your cards with local payment methods and manage them from your phone or computer.

How do I create an account?

Sign up at app.tacopay.co with your email, confirm it with the code we send you, add your personal details and complete identity verification with an identity document and a selfie. Once your verification is approved, you can add funds and request cards.

How do virtual cards work?

A virtual card has a card number, expiry date and security code, just like a physical card, but it exists only online. You enter these details at the checkout of a compatible merchant. Taco Pay cards are prepaid in US dollars, so each payment uses the balance on the card.

How can I add funds?

You can add funds with crypto (USDT) or from your mobile wallet through an authorised local agent. In the app, choose the card and the amount, select a method and follow the instructions on screen. For USDT, you send to the address and network shown; for agent top-ups, you upload your proof of payment. The balance is credited once the payment is confirmed.

Can I top up from my mobile wallet?

Yes. The supported mobile wallets are shown in the app and in the top-up methods on this page. Payments go to authorised agents listed in the app, so only send money to agents shown there.

Can I use USDT?

Yes. Start a top-up in the app, choose USDT and send the amount to the address shown, on the network shown. The balance is credited once the transaction is confirmed.

Which blockchain networks are supported?

The supported networks are shown in the app when you create a USDT top-up. Always send funds only on the exact network displayed for your deposit; sending on a different network can result in lost funds.

Where can I use my virtual card?

You can use it with online merchants that accept the card, such as digital tools, subscriptions, advertising platforms and online stores. Acceptance is decided by each merchant, and some may not accept prepaid or virtual cards.

Are there card issuance or top-up fees?

Yes. Fees apply when you request a card and when you top up. The app shows the full breakdown, including the exchange rate and the total in meticais, before you confirm.

How long do deposits take?

Agent top-ups are credited after our team reviews your proof of payment. The app indicates that this usually takes 5 to 10 minutes after you submit it, but it can take longer. USDT top-ups are credited once the transaction is confirmed on the network. You can follow the status in your account.

Why might a payment be declined?

Common reasons include an insufficient balance on the card, a frozen card, incorrect card details or billing information, or a merchant that does not accept prepaid or virtual cards. Merchants and card networks can also run their own security checks.
